Job Details:

Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Assistant Controller to join our team at Cape Cod Healthcare. 

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Manage the general accounting functions relating to general ledger, payroll, accounts payable and fixed assets for various Cape Cod Healthcare affiliates.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Asist the Corporate controller in directing the accounting and financial reporting function of CCHC

2.      Coordinate and oversee the management of general accounting functions and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and direct the preparation and distribution of timely and accurate operating and financial reports required within and outside the organization.

3.      Oversee the Payroll function for CCHC and affiliates; the Payroll Manager is a direct report to this position

4.      Maintain  data accuracy and integrity for all CCHC affiliates. 

5.      Manage the cash disbursements and intercompany transfers of all CCHC affiliates for vendor payments for those affiliates utilizing the corporate accounts payable database.

6.      Promote the concept of cooperation and develop lines of communication with persons both inside and outside the healthcare system.

7.      Select and hire professional level staff and provide training.  Evaluate and initiate appropriate personnel activities.

8.      Maintain fiscal control over CCHC expenditures.

9.      Coordinate all entities intercompany reconciliations to insure proper classifications, balances and fund transfers.

10.  Install and maintain computerized general ledger, payroll, accounts payable and fixed asset systems.  Control the structure of the modules for all Cape Cod Healthcare entities.

11.  Evaluate existing procedures in order to  to ensure that the department is operating efficiently and effectively.

12.  Prepare quarterly obligated group report for submission to bond holders.

13.  Work in conjunction with the outside auditing firm and affiliates to ensure a successful year-end audit.

14.  Keep informed on the latest development in the healthcare field through study, reading and appropriate attendance at meetings, workshops and seminars.  Perform other work related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

·         Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Accounting; CPA and/or Master's in Business Administration (MBA) preferred

·         Five to seven years related experience, preferably in an acute care hospital/healthcare organization 

·         Previous experience supervising staff with the ability to coach, motivate and engage employees in a finance function

·         Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to all levels of management

·         Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced, busy environment

·         Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications and related accounting and finance software programs
