The Assistant Dean of Academic and Student Affairs works with the Divisional Dean to administer the evaluation section of the Division of Continuing Education collective bargaining agreement, specifically classroom observations and summary evaluations for adjunct faculty teaching face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses.


1.    Meet with the dean to develop a schedule of evaluations to be completed.
2.    Schedule classroom observation with instructor.
3.    Review course classroom materials prior to the classroom observation.
4.    Conduct the classroom observation.
5.    Complete a report of the classroom observation and summary evaluation using contract forms.
6.    Forward the results of evaluation to the instructor in writing.
7.    Provide the instructor with an opportunity to discuss the classroom observation and summary evaluation, and to respond in writing.
8.    Review the classroom observation and summary evaluation and instructor’s response with the dean.



1.    Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
2.    Five years of college level teaching experience.
3.    Three years of management experience as department chair or academic dean in post-secondary institution(s).
4.    Experience using a variety of traditional and innovative pedagogical practices that promote student learning.
5.    Experience in curriculum development including using assessment strategies to measure instructional effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
6.    Experience working with diverse populations to create an inclusive and collegial campus climate.
7.    Demonstrated commitment to the comprehensive community college mission.

COMPENSATION:  $50 per hour for up to 4 hours per evaluation (including document preparation).  Part-time, non-benefited, not to exceed 18 hours per week.  Includes day and evening hours, as needed.
Non-unit position.
