Job Details:

Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Bio Med Tech to join our team at Cape Cod Hospital.

To work cooperatively and communicate politely with department heads,

employees, patients, visitors and other personnel to assist and instruct,

install, repair, calibrate, safety test, evaluate, design and modify,

biomedical and non-biomedical equipment and systems.



1.   Tests and repairs biomedical and non-biomedical equipment insuring new

     and repaired instrumentation is properly inspected in accordance with

     federal, state, JCAHO and manufacturer standards prior to being placed in

     service.  Works closely with professional engineering and medical



2.   Applies conventional engineering practices to develop, install and

     correct malfunctions.  Calibrate and test biomedical electronic

     equipment.  Evaluate new, existing and trial equipment and make

     recommendations for improvement or purchase.  Design or modify equipment

     and systems.


3.   Performs preventive maintenance, calibrates equipment and make safety

     check in accordance with department guidelines and procedures.  Repairs

     equipment in a timely manner.  Contacts the manufacturer when assistance

     is needed.


4.   Tests equipment per department schedule.  Removes equipment with

     malfunction or safety hazard.  Repairs non-biomedical equipment or



5.   Compiles instructional material and conducts training for hospital

     personnel for electrical safety and operation.  Writes technical reports

     relating to projects and studies assigned.  Conducts training/orientation

     for new biomedical technicians.


6.   Maintains inventory of equipment, supplies and test instruments.  Informs

     manager of supplies to purchase for equipment repair.


7.   Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum of Associate Degree in Electronics (Biomedical Engineering desired),

military training or equivalent experience.  Educational requirements:

Electron circuits and Electronics; Mathematics for Engineering Technology;

Anatomy and physiology; Engineering Technology: Communications. (These are

taken from a biomedical engineering technology course listing - Franklin

Institute Catalog - equivalents accepted).


Experience in repair of electronic equipment.  Knowledge of anatomy, medical

terminology, medical instrumentation, troubleshooting concepts, test

equipment, electronic formulas, symbols, color codes, and schematics.  Will be given oral exam prior to consideration for position.  Good physical and mental health.
