Description
Schedules multiple locations and services
  • Must be courteous to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Collects co-pays when necessary.
  • Identifies and verifies existing insurance.
  • Counsels patients, financially.
  • Interacts with case managers for admission/service appropriateness.
  • Bed placement.
  • Obtains required signatures and authorizations.
  • Obtains/issues Advance Beneficiary Notices.
  • Interacts with Department Managers/Supervisors, Physicians, Nursing and Nursing Management.
  • Obtains patient consents for service and billing authorization.
  • Presents patient with information on Advance Directives (Healthcare Proxy).
  • Produces and distributes necessary paperwork.
  • Obtains all required approvals and reference numbers according to policy (insurance specific).
  • Notifies and obtains signatures for patients' rights.
  • Ensures accuracy of demographic patient information obtained.

Qualifications:
 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year experience in medical field.
  • Type at a minimum of 30 wpm.
  • Completed Medical Terminology Course or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
