Job Details

To develop, assess and evaluate activity program to meet the needs of a diverse assisted living population.   Arrange daily options for residents including routine activities, outings, crafts, dances, music, educational classes, seminars and other similar opportunities. Categories include daily exercise, nutrition, intellectual stimulation, arts and sciences, travelogues, outings, spiritual development and residents’ individual history and experiences.    

Essential Functions:

  • Create and Coordinate routine activities for assisted living population
  • Co-ordinate special events and individual resident programs
  • Supervise and train staff to provide quality activities that are fun and respectful to residents.
  • Organize monthly resident council meetings.
  • Complete resident social history.
  • Create new resident welcome gifts.
  • Organize volunteer opportunities for residents.
  • Oversee scheduled transportation for resident.
  • Manage, direct and lead activities associates.
  • Coordinate volunteers.
  • Oversee operation of community store.
  • Provide in-service and orientation topics to staff.
  • Adherence of Non-negotiable
  • Perform additional assigned duties at the direction of the Executive Director

Additional Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in the geriatric field.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience with the aging process and/or disability issues. Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals with memory impairments. Previous experience working with memory impaired elderly in a paid or volunteer position highly desirable.

Special Skills, Licenses, Certification and/or Special Training Requirements:

  • Training and knowledge of recreational activities.
  • Training and knowledge of memory impairments.
  • Valid driver’s license

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, community officials and the general public.
  • Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
  • Must meet all State health requirements
  • Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must pass criminal background check upon job offer
