Job Details:

Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Groundskeeper to join our team at Cape Cod Hospital.

Perform a variety of duties to maintain the appearance and conditions of hospital grounds, landscaping and buildings.




1.     Ensure that entrances are clean and free of debris (i.e. trash, discarded cigarettes, etc.)  including but not limited to emptying trash barrels and patrolling the parking lot and grounds for debris. 


2.     Paint outdoor fixtures (ie handrails, benches, trash receptacles) and paint the curb markings for fire lanes, parking etc.


3.     Maintain driveways and parking lots; keeps drainage ditches and culverts free of obstruction; sweeps walkways and outside staircases. 


4.     Inspect grounds to ensure safe conditions; cleans grounds using rakes, brooms, hoses or power washers; shovels, sweeps, and removes debris.


5.     Provide winter support for entrances including but not limited to shoveling, or spreading ice melt.  Report any pedestrian hazards in the parking lot or sidewalks to supervisor/director.


6.     Prepares and grades terrain; seeds and/or sods lawns, mows lawns; transplant/plant shrubs, plants and trees.  Checks operation/coverage of irrigation sprinklers so all areas are being watered and minimal overspray on sidewalks and parking lots.  Water lawns, flower beds/gardens, potted flowers/plants not covered by sprinkler.


7.     Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety. 


8.     Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings. 


9.     Perform other work related duties as assigned or requested.

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.

·         Valid Massachusetts driver's license is required.

·         Demonstrate competence with the use of hand and power tools and their function.
