Provides leadership and oversight of Charge Description Master (CDM) maintenance and charge capture related functions. Ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures and governing agencies.
  • Develop, implement, and manage efficient and effective operational policies, procedures, processes and performance monitoring across CDM maintenance and charge capture processes.
  • Support, oversee, and manage a service line-based Charge Review program on a day-to-day basis. This program focuses on identifying charge capture issues/improvement opportunities to reduce revenue leakage.
  • Manage the performance and productivity of the team as it relates to CDM maintenance and charge capture processes.
  • Consistently complete performance monitoring processes and implements corrective actions as required.
  • Ensure revenue integrity and clinical department staff comply with established Revenue Integrity/Revenue Cycle policies, processes and quality assurance programs.
  • Define, implement, and monitor strategies for improving charge capture. Develop and report performance measures to administration and other departments that includes charge capture information.
  • Collaborate extensively with physicians, other clinical staff and department administrators to enable consistent capture of revenue.
  • Confirm supervisory staff are consistently performing performance-monitoring processes.
  • Support rollout of process improvements throughout the charge capture functions.
  • Ensure accurate collection of data for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and compliance changes impacting the CDM, charging requirements and operations, and ensure revenue integrity and hospital staff are appropriately educated and the CDM, charging tools and processes are modified as needed to capture revenue for services rendered. Manage to applicable Revenue Integrity Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Define and implement action plans when performance is not meeting expectations.
  • .Assess direct reports performance on a consistent basis and provide feedback to reward effective performance and enable proactive performance improvement steps to be taken.
  • Assess workflow prioritization on a daily basis to confirm that metrics and benchmarks are consistently achieved.

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years of healthcare with at least three years of healthcare Finance or Accounts Receivable Management experience.
  • Minimum two years supervisory/management experience. Proficient knowledge of charge master components (CPT codes, HCPCs, Revenue Codes, G/L and Cost centers).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple initiatives concurrently; must be able to work independently, set own priorities and meet deadlines.
  • An understanding of the psychology of complex corporate relationships, and an ability to influence within such an environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, delegation, and interpersonal skills. Experience and knowledge of regulatory requirements, payer requirements and third party reimbursement.
  • Required three to five years of demonstrated experience with Soarian financials or comparable software applications.
  • Ability to evaluate personal performance against established goals.
  • Ability to communicate with and present to a wide variety of CCHC and external users, including senior management and physicians, as well as outside vendors and consultants.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple initiatives concurrently; must be able to work independently, set own priorities and meet deadlines. Demonstrated goal-oriented thinking, operational and organizational skills.
