Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Materials and Equipment Specialist to join our team at Cape Cod Hospital.

Develops, implements, and maintains those programs pertaining to capital equipment, medical instrumentation, and surgical supplies.



  1. Maintains documentation of environmental and equipment monitoring as required by statute and/or other regulation, including but not limited to FDA implant records, coordinating recall notices, and insuring new equipment check-in protocol. 
  2. Coordinates with the O.R. Charge Nurse to ensure flow of information regarding schedule changes, special order supplies, equipment issues, and vendor representation requirements. 
  3. Orders, receives and verifies all supplies purchased from the vendor.  Verifies correct charges, EOC allocations, authorizes payments.
  4. Maintains an accurate listing of surgical and specialty instrumentation and equipment within the surgical suite. 
  5. Maintains and reviews all consignment inventory and special order items.
  6. Coordinates with Bio-Medical engineering and environmental services in the review of all preventative maintenance programs and equipment service contracts.
  7. Coordinates the supplies and equipment supplied to the surgical suite by other hospital departments. 
  8. Responsible for the logging of daily perioperative nurses notes and audits for correct information charges.
  9. Maintains and updates O.R. chargemaster system for most recent pricing information.  Verifies new supply items are entered into chargemaster prior to use. 
  10. Batches daily patient billable items and sends information via computer to billing department for processing. 
  11. Assists in the development of the operational and capital equipment budgets.  Reviews monthly P&L pertaining to their area of responsibility and reports variance to the business director. 
  12. Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested based on the needs of the department.

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Typing skills at 30 words per minute as demonstrated by a timed test. 
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, E-Mail and Internet. 
  • Ability to organize systems and manage time efficiently.
  • One year technical and/or Central Processing experience in a general operation room.
  • Successful passage of Medical Terminology course OR successful passage of the CCH Medical Terminology exam. 
  • Ability to work in a high pressure, demanding area.
