Under the direction of the department supervisor or designee, provide the highest standards of clinical support to the physician.
  • Manages patient flow for clinicians. Determines urgency and priority of walk in and add on patients, patient consults, etc. Manages clinicians daily schedule to expedite care and maximize clinical time. Coordinates the practice when clinicians are not available, ensuring that telephone calls are triaged appropriately and clinicians receive necessary information.
  • Report on clinical quality measures and reporting to patient care team to insure that quality measures are met.
  • In conjunction with physician, create outcome measures.
  • Review and act on hospital and Emergency Center discharges daily.
  • Monitors practice issues and problems and identify and solve concerns regarding patient satisfaction, patient flow, and compliance with procedures and guidelines. Advocates for patients, as appropriate. Assists in resolving patients concerns.
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms. Obtains relevant information and takes vital signs: blood pressure temperature, pulse, weight, and respirations. Inputs pertinent clinical information into medical record.
  • Assists clinicians with clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department. May advise patient of preparation required for exam or additional testing specific to the department and keeps patients informed of visit status, unforeseen delays and other relevant information.
  • Follow-up with patient, patient care team and associated departments on patient labs, consults, and diagnostic procedures, and ER visit notifications to determine patients current clinical status, resolution or not of condition, set up appointments and educate patients on convenience care access for less urgent clinical matters.
  • Retrieve calls from prescription line and complete refills as needed.
  • Prior Authorizations as needed for medications, procedures, etc.
  • Patient education and counseling to include self management goals for chronic diseases and coaching to achieve clinical goals
  • Direct patients to complete self guided data population through the patient portal.
  • Determine interventions needed based on current clinical and quality guidelines for each patient with chronic diseases.
  • Demonstrates a high level of competence with computers programs including electronic medical records, typing and clerical support.
  • Delivers excellent customer service to patients through participation in a patient centered medical care team.
  • Order all medical supplies and maintain inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Associates degree in medical assisting or graduate of certificate program or 5 years experience as Medical Assistant required, LPN preferred.
  • Successful passage of basic medical terminology course OR successful passage of the Medical Terminology exam.
  • A Minimum of two years experience as a medical assistant required.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management skills required. Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications.
  • Must be facile with computers, able to compile pertinent approved clinical information, run reports and extract information from appropriate systems.
  • Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association or AHA approved certification required.

Schedule Details: 24/32 Hours Flex hours between 6a-6p rotating weekdays, occ. holiday
