Hours: Hours between 6a-6p Monday-Friday, occ. holiday
Job Details: Cape Cod Healthcare is the leading provider of healthcare services for residents and visitors of Cape Cod.  With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.  We are currently seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at MACC.

Utilizes the nursing process in planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care given to the surgical patient during the pre and post-operative period.  Plans and delivers safe, effective nursing care until the patient is discharged from his/her care to the recovery.


1.      Understands all aspects of post-operative care, to include assessments and potential complications.

2.      Takes appropriate safety and infection control measures at all times.  Has working knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation.

3.      Maintains and evaluates own clinical expertise and clinical practice, demonstrates the importance of continuing education to the performance of facility responsibilities and growth in profession.

4.      Conducts quality review audits as assigned by manager or designee.

5.      Maintains flexibility with scheduling and job assignments in order to cover patient needs.

6.      Fosters a positive and professional ambulatory surgery center environment by interacting with all persons in a considerate, helpful and courteous manner and by participating as a team member.

7.      Participates in committees, work groups, and meetings as deemed necessary. Can demonstrate measurable results an meet target dates.

8.      Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and takes part in shared leadership.

9.      Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and ACLS

10.  Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process utilizing standards set forth for Nursing Practice by the ANA and ASPAN

11.  Organizes, modifies, evaluates, documents, and maintains the plan of care for PACU patients based on total assessment and the age of the patients.

12.  Participates and cooperates in the unit-based Quality Improvement processes.

13.  Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.

14.  Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patient's right to privacy by protecting confidential information.

15.  Evaluates and documents patient's response; monitors and recognizes changes in physiological and psychosocial status; takes appropriate action based on clinical condition, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology of patient.

16.  Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm

17.  Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.

18.  Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

19.  Regular, punctual and dependable attendance

20.  Other duties as assigned


Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects MACC's commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service.



  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Must read, write and communicate in English.
  • Basic Life Support and ACLS Certification required.
  • Critical Care experience preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory, compliance, and accreditation standards and requirements
