RN URGENT CARE-171223-50006554
To provide professional nursing care and support for urgent care center patients receiving treatment and evaluation to all age groups.
  • Under the direct supervision of the Physician assist in providing professional nursing care in the urgent care setting.
  • RN must correctly identify patient by asking name and date of birth.
  • RN duties include triage, assessment, point of care testing, all physician ordered treatments, discharge and patient education.
  • Assess and treat patients in a fast paced, high volume urgent care setting. Obtain and document all current patient medication and allergies within the EMR.
  • Assist providers in urgent care procedures.
  • Implement orders for EKGs, dressing changes, suture removal, ear lavages, splinting, injections, IV insertion, and IV infusions.
  • Initiate outpatient infusions as ordered.
  • Establish and maintain IV access, or access PICC lines as indicated.
  • Monitor patients vital signs per protocol and assess for any adverse reactions during the infusion and as indicated post infusion.
  • Answer general patient questions over the telephone and appropriately triage patient to the appropriate place for care.
  • Maintain and stock all rooms, IV carts, and other supplies as needed to meet the needs of the department.
  • Check all equipment to ensure proper working order.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information at all times during their urgent care visit.
  • Assess personal and learning developmental needs and act as a resource person for other staff and patients.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other activities that promote the growth and development of nursing and patient care.
  • Assist with secretarial/clerical duties as needed including greeting and registering patients, filing, answering phones and faxing documents.
  • Perform other work duties as requested/ directed.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and communicate politely with department employees, patients, and visitors.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
  • Current RN license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Acute care experience required with preference given to those employees with past Emergency Department experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • IV insertion/ therapy skills required.

Schedule Details: Per-diem Hours between 9a-7p, rot. days, occ. w/e, occ. hol.
