Description
Provide financial information by researching and analyzing banking and accounting data; preparing daily and monthly financial and investment reports for all levels of the organization. The Senior Accountant - Treasury is assigned the complex accounting for the CCHC Foundation including consolidation and elimination entries. The Senior Accountant - Treasury handles the accounting for the more technically complex areas such as capitalized interest, monthly debt and swap entries, present value calculations for split interest agreements and investment accounting for all CCHC entities. In addition, the Senior Accountant is involved in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and the audited financial statements including the cash flow statement and investment, debt and net asset footnotes.
  • PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The Senior Accountant is responsible for month-end close and monthly financial reporting:
  • Record financial transactions
  • Prepare and record journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Review, track, analyze and reconcile all information for accuracy and compliance
  • Analyze budget variances
  • Prepare monthly reports
  • Prepare monthly cash report for senior management which compares current year to prior year cash activity with explanations for variances.
  • Reviews daily banking activity for the entire organization sending a report of any suspicious activity and noting any unusual activity.
  • Assist in updating the financial strategic planning system.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasting reports.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations in support of the financial statements
  • Establish financial protocols and tracking systems (e.g. banking, investment reporting, debt compliance)
  • Prepare reports for submission to rating agencies
  • Prepare audit worksheets and reports, including footnotes for cash and cash equivalents, investments, long term debt, capital leases and interest rate swaps
  • Prepare cash flow statement and consolidated statements of changes in net assets.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports/analysis as needed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
  • Maintain banking and accounting controls by following and/or recommending policies and procedures
  • Assist in annual budget the Sources and Uses for funding the annual capital budget.
  • Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
  • Maintain financial security by following and/or recommending internal controls
  • Maintain the integrity of confidential data
  • Keep informed on the latest developments in accounting and the healthcare field through study, reading, attendance at appropriate seminars
  • Act as an advisor to Managers/Directors on financial formulation. Respond to department managers' inquiries regarding departmental reports. Participate in meetings as needed
  • Exemplify a high standard of customer service
  • Perform other work- related duties as required or assigned.


Qualifications:
 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
  • 5 -10 years’ experience in a financial setting or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or closely related field, and 1-2 years experience in a financial setting.
  • Healthcare experience in a financial setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, financial theories, principles and concepts.
  • Ability to analyze data a communicate results effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time deadlines
  • Periodically requires additional hours above the normal work week.

Schedule Details: 40 hours per week, 8a-5p Monday-Friday.
