The Summer of Science Instructor is responsible (with the support of the CCAPE program coordinators) for designing and implementing curriculum for the Summer of Science Construction Exploration Program from July 23 – July 27, 2018.  The Construction Exploration Program is a one-week inquiry based program for students entering grades 7, 8, and 9. The instructor will be responsible for implementing this “hands-on science” program providing students with a fun, interactive, hands-on experience in the fundamentals of Architecture, Construction, and Engineering and raise awareness of careers in the construction trades.

The instructor should be a professional middle/high school educator with distinguished teaching experiences in the area of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and/or Carpentry/Construction. Applicant must have proficiency working with technology and STEM concepts.


1.    Work to develop and implement the 2018 Summer of Science curriculum with a focus on Construction Exploration.
2.    Work enthusiastically with children.
3.    Approach education with passion and excitement.
4.    Lead groups of up to 15-20 students throughout the day’s educational activities.
5.    Work to create fun games, activities, arts and crafts and more.
6.    Build positive group dynamics among students.
7.    Interact with parents in a professional and energetic manner.
8.    Help cultivate confidence and self-esteem, as well as natural love for learning.
9.    Coordination with the Home Builders and Remodeler’s Association of Cape Cod on guest speakers for each day of the program.



1.    Bachelor's degree.
2.    Middle/high school teaching experience in the STEM disciplines. (Engineering, computer science, carpentry, and math/science middle/high school educators are encouraged to apply).
3.    Knowledge of and genuine interest in the topics covered in the Summer of Science program (robotics, physics, chemistry, computer programming, engineering, construction).
4.    Reliable, responsible, punctual, and fun to be around.
5.    Can attend all days of the program from July 23, 2018 through July 27, 2018, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
6.    Demonstrated ability to prioritize, work independently and take initiative.
7.    Effective classroom management skills.


1.    Master’s degree.
2.    Experience with summer youth programs

COMPENSATION:    $30.00/hour, temporary, non-benefited.  10 hours of preparation prior to Program start.  35 hours of instruction July 23 - 27, 2018.
