Description
Provides planning and execution of appropriate early childhood education experiences.
  • Exhibits a commitment to the mission, vision and goals of the agency and demonstrates respect for working in a collaborative decision-making process by incorporating a continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintains prompt hours; notifies Director and Center in event of illness.
  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Works with other staff members in a cooperative manner and attends monthly team planning times not to exceed two (2) hours per month.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings.
  • Attends twenty (20) hours of staff training per year. The year running from January 1st to December 31st. Five (5) of the training hours must be in special needs.
  • Maintains CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Maintains a current physical due every two (2) years.
  • Follows personnel policies of the Center and the VNA of Cape Cod.
    Classroom Responsibilities
  • Provides planning and execution of appropriate early childhood education experiences with a variety of materials in fields of art, music, literature, science and mathematics.
  • Promotes and supervises activities which promote the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child.
  • Provides and maintains a neat organized classroom; takes responsibility for upkeep of all educational equipment and materials.
  • Maintains records of progress of each child’s growth and development; prepares progress reports on each child twice per year and discusses the report with director and child’s parent of guardian.
  • Works with parents to promote understanding of growth and development of their child in the Center; encourages parent participation in Center programs whenever possible; is available for parent conferences whenever necessary; attends group and other Center functions whenever possible.
  • Supervises all activities to insure safety of each child at all times.
  • Coordinates and delegates classroom duties, including children’s evaluations and parent conferences.
  • Maintain parent communications on other than routine issues.
  • Follows safe work practices in accordance with agency guidelines and policies.
  • Practices continuous quality improvement with internal and external customers by interacting in a professional and cooperative manner with other staff, children, families and outside organizations.
  • Represents the agency in a professional manner complying with all agency guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all work assigned and of all child/families and employee financial information.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Classroom Coordinator or Director to meet Agency needs.

Qualifications:
 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • EEC Certification required.
  • CPR/First Aide Certification required.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood preferred.
